The Big Apple meets Asia's world city - as New York singer, songwriter and pianist David Raleigh made his smash debut for Hong Kong audiences while local band Ninth State rocked the house at RED. In a fusion of guest and local artists, it was obvious that geographical boundaries melt away with the international language of music.
Ninth State kicked things off with a set that ran the gamut of Van Morrison, Roberta Flack, and the Fujis, solidly demonstrating their versatile sound and style. It was a heady mix of smooth and sultry, as frontman Pete and songstress Ivy got the audience shaking and singing along. The stage was set, the mood buzzing when David got on and soon had the crowd at RED putting their hands together again and again. Though he began with dreamy love ballads, David's showman persona came to life when he broke into more up-tempo tunes as he shimmied and swayed to the rhythm of his fingers flying over the piano keys. A soul-stirring Thursday evening to usher in Valentine's Day weekend...... |
